Real Talk #1

Sometimes we all need to a bit of a “real talk”. Here’s a handful that might help you out.

  1. If you can’t understand or “don’t want to have to think about” where code is without an editor spelling it out for you:

    Organize your shit.

  2. If you don’t think a feature is needed because you haven’t heard enough people complain about it:

    You never understood your users to begin with.

  3. Putting policies in place to help prevent beginners from making mistakes which also prevent experts from doing their jobs means:

    You’re scared. Be a leader.

  4. When customers want a feature and you’ve replied with “I don’t see a use for it”:

    Your understanding of the world is overly self-centered.

  5. If you think your programmers should do product, UX, and visual design without interacting with customers & users:

    You’re going to get a crappy result 90% of the time, and that’s being generous.
